Residents of the North Coast enjoy sports in any form or fashion. Spectators will enjoy the high school, college and university offerings in baseball, football, soccer, basketball, tennis, golf, and track and field.
Redwood Acres has a track for various types of auto racing and other vehicle competitions that attract a large audience each season.
Horse racing at the Humboldt County Fair brings many spectators and bettors to the fairgrounds each year. The Pony Express Days horse racing on the beach is not only exciting, but a magnificent visual display.
The rodeo comes to various locals each year offering excitement and the challenge of man against time and beast. Dressing for the role is part of the fun that spectators enjoy.

The Great Cross Country Kinetic Sculpture Race is a nationally recognized event in which human-powered vehicles of all shapes and sizes race to various levels of glory during a three day event each year. This zany and comical event may not look like a sport per se, however, the efforts in creating the sculptures as well as moving them toward the finish line many miles away does take much muscle and endurance...and a good sense of humor by all.
Participation sports include the many foot races, bicycle races, and marathons offered throughout the County. Each town has one or more softball leagues to play in and there are many sports fields to use. Basketball players enjoy the many league teams that flourish in the area as well.

Gyms and exercise establishments are very prevalent. The recently built, City-owned Adorni Center on the Eureka waterfront offers exercise classes, weight training, and a full-size regulation basketball court.

Other sports in abundance on the North Coast or within the Humboldt County bounds are water sports and recreation, hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, rock climbing, off-road vehicle driving, camping, snow and water skiing, river rafting, walking the various nature trails and more.
No matter how active or sedentary a person may be, there is something for everyone in Humboldt County.
